Trans Borneo Challenge
This event is set to be one of the biggest fundraisers for orangutans ever undertaken! This is your chance to become part of an event that will truly help to make a difference for this magnificant species. The Trans Borneo Challenge aims to inform the world about the plight of the orangutans, as a flagship species for many other endangered creatures, as well as the continued destruction of their rainforest habitat.
How does it work?
10 countries are represented by 2 people from each country (20 trekkers in total). The challenge will start in West Boreno and finish in East Borneo.
When is it on?
16th August to 8th September 2013
How are funds raised?
Each participant have their own fundraising target of $2,000AUD, as part of their tour commitment, totalling $40,000AUD. The remainder of the total fundraising target is to be met through general donations and sponsors. If 160,000 people across the globe donate $1AUD each through the Trans Borneo Challenge Fundraising website (coming soon), we will reach our goal of $200,000AUD in no time! People will also be able to log on and sponsor their favourite trekker or country per kilometre. For example, 1c per kilometre would be $9.00. Donations will be accepted in all currencies & credit cards, through the TBC fundraising website.
We believe we have the means to raise over $200,000AUD as a united effort by all countries.
Where does the money raised go?
100% of monies raised will go towards on the ground conservation projects supported by orangutan NGO's, such as The Orangutan Project (TOP), along with contributions to local Conservation NGO's in Borneo.
How much will it cost?
The provisional cost is $4,200 per person. Plus a fundraising component of $2,000AUD (min) per person as part of your tour package.
How long will it take?
